Q. Why Should I book a professional Hair and Makeup Artist?
A. Getting ready for a special occasion should be fun and an event in itself. As a professional hair and makeup artist I have been trained to the highest level from styling, makeup and customer service. I have every possible product in my hair and makeup kit – and I will always have the right shade of foundation for you as I can custom blend for your skintone so I can colour match even the fairest of the fair.
The difference with application of makeup by a makeup artist and not just a girl on a counter is I’m not trying to sell you products – I’m aiming to make you look, and feel, amazing. It’s a really relaxing and fun experience having your hair and makeup done by a professional and probably the most important element, and one people forget about, is that you will look flawless in every photograph. Make up for photography is a completely different skill to regular day-time or night-out make up that you’d do yourself. It’s using make up to sculpt the face and shape the features so you look younger, fresher, more fabulous version of you. If you want that? Book a professional hair and makeup artist.
Q. I don’t usually wear makeup, will I look like me?
A. I meet all my brides prior to their big day to discuss their hair and makeup and what their preferred look is. I take everything into consideration when designing a look specifically for you. I consider your dress, your venue, your flowers and how you want to feel on your big day – whether it is a glamorous look, or natural, fresher version of you. I spend a lot of time prepping the skin and getting it looking flawless. It’s just like you – only better!
Q. Do I have to book you for both Hair and Makeup?
A. No. Although I am fully qualified in both Hair and Makeup, I fully understand you might have your usual hairstylist, or a friend who is a makeup artist so it is absolutely fine to book one service. Many brides book me for hair for themselves, the bridesmaids and mother of the bride, or makeup for the whole party. I have a great relationship with lots of hairdressers and makeup artists working in the wedding industry in Northern Ireland so it’s always good craic on the day.
Q. How many people can you cater for in a Bridal party?
A. I have a team of fabulous Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists who regularly work with me. Just let me know the number of ladies in your party when enquiring.
Q. Ho far do you travel?
A. I am available to travel throughout Northern Ireland, Ireland and internationally if required.
Q. What do I need to take with me to the trial?
A. For the trial it’s great to see an image of your wedding dress, swatches and colours for your bridesmaids and any jewellery and headpieces. I would always insist that the bride takes time to look through my photo gallery and check out things like Pinterest for ideas so we can create the look together.
Q. How do I prepare my skin and hair for trial?
A. Please come to the trial with clean, make-up free skin if possible. If you thread/wax, please do so at least 4 days prior to your appointment as makeup will not adhere to the freshly treated skin. Hair should be preferably washed the day before and unstraightened, in order for me to work with the natural texture. Please note, do not use heated tools like ghd’s in you hair prior to your trial, as they make your hair static and slippery.
Q. What products do you use?
A. I am not tied to one particular brand, so everything I use has been tried and tested before it goes into my trusted makeup kit. I use Makeup Forever, Laura Mercier, Illamasqua, Pericone, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tarte, Nars, Madina Milano, Chanel to name a few.
Q. Will my makeup stay all day/night?
A. One of the reasons makeup doesn’t last is that it isn’t the right match for your skintype. Your skin may be dry and need a more hydrating primer or combination and need a mattifying effect. I also take a lot of time and use professional tools to apply the products ensuing they stay put. Many clients have complimented me on how their make up has lasted, even the naughty clients who didn’t remove their makeup before bed told me the makeup still looked good in the morning!
Q. Can I purchase any products to touch up during the day?
A. Yes, I can arrange purchase of any products you liked from your trial, where possible. Most people purchase a lippy, gloss and a powder compact to always be photo ready!
Q. Do you provide packages?
A. Yes, we are delighted to offer a range of services within the salon for you to treat yourself in the run up to the big event. Please visit the services page for full details.
Q. How do I book my wedding with you?
A. Simply fill in your wedding details and requirements on the enquiry form, and I will get back to you with availability and a quotation as soon as I can! As I don’t always have access to my emails, this might take a few days…please be patient
Q. How do I pay for my wedding booking?
A. As soon as you receive a quotation, I will take a small deposit to confirm your booking. I accept cash or debit / credit card. Balance is payable by cash on the day of the wedding, or debit/ *credit card (*fees may apply) beforehand.
Q. How do I book an appointment at the studio in Stranmillis?
